IM ST CROIX 2010 ROUND UP - 03.02.2010

The votes are in and Ironman Pucon wins by a long shot as a premier race destination for all to enjoy! Prior to race day, many enjoyed Pucon's casual atmosphere by browsing through nearby shops for handmade souvenirs, savoring delicious food while patio dining and indulging in ice cream or fresh fruit juices for desert. Others took pleasure in reading a book and taking a nap on the black sand beach by day and relaxing in the thermal baths by night; while families brought their children across the street for afternoon play time.

Race day came and went with beautiful weather and fantastic crowd support! Kiddos lined the streets to "high-five" athletes on the run and what other event can you find that the race director is a competitor running alongside of you cheering you on!

Then, the following morning the true adventure began! With tired legs, we climbed to the top of Villarrica volcano. The trek was well worth it after a spectacular view from the top and getting to sled down the volcano! That evening the group enjoyed horseback riding, good conversation, a game of dice, and a wonderful dinner at Willy's ranch. Tuesday morning we started all over again with a rafting trip in the morning, an afternoon bike ride and thermal springs in the evening. We finished up the trip with a canopy/zip line excursion.
